For those who love hiking, the region is ideal since there are trails for beginners who just want to enjoy the nature’s beauties and for experienced climbers as well that love challenges!!
ROUTE 1.
Nea Kerasounta – Rogon Castle – Agios Varnavas Habitat Louros

With Nea Kerasounta as a starting point, the trail leads to the Castle of Rogon, at the top of the hill, over Louros River, from where, the bird’s eye view towards the hill of Elias the Prophet is stunning. Going on via the Petra community, therich of life path ends up at the riparian forest of Agios Varnavas, at the east trench of Louros. It is said that, at this forest, the Cyprian student of Paul the Apostle, Varnavas, taught catechism. Nowadays, a part of that forest with long trunkspoplar, willow, ash, plane and elm trees is left. The picturesque small church of Agios Varnavas dominates the beginning of the forest, half of it buried, because of River Louros flooding. A big traditional fair takes place on the name day on 11 June.
ROUTE 2.
Acherontas River from the Gates of Hades to Glyki village of the county of Thesprotia
Interesting and hard trail for hiking and swimming is the one that follows the flow of Acheronta River from the Gates of Hades to Glyki village of the county of Thesprotia. Acheronats River that crosses the north part of the Municipal Entity of Louros, through wooded mountains and really virgin nature, is one of the most ideal rivers of our country for the lovers of canoe kayak lovers. Especially in spring, local and foreign visitors practice the sport.
ROUTE 3.
Skiadas (from the village tank) – Elias the Prophet – Mpaltanesi top (1286m.) – back to Skiadas

Anogeio – Elias the Prophet – Ksirovouni top, the highest top in the county (1600m.) – back to Anogeio

ROUTE 5.
From Gorgomylo – top – descent to Rodavgi (signposted to Rodavgi)

At Ksirovouni, which has a big relief, there are many non-signposted trails that anyone can hike for many hours through lakes, dirt roads and hills of the mountain, that as we can tell from the name it is a trail with stones without trees at its high parts.
ROUTE 6.
Korifoula – Zalongo – Ano Skafidoti

From Korifoula village we climb up the top Elias the Prophet (810m) and then we follow the NW path, through a rare oak forest, we reach Ano Skafidoti. There is a path that crosses the settlement, that after 2 hours of hiking it ends up to the tops of Tsouka (1042m) and Lagou Podari (896m), from where we can gaze at Acheronta Canyon and the mountains of Souli. This is the part of the historic path that Souliotisses women walked up to Zalongo, where they got sacrificed. This is the historic trail that we hope to show off and make it famous to everybody in the country.
ROUTE 7.
Zarkorachi Papadates

From Papadates village we reach the place “Galini” and we follow on the right the narrow asphalt road that goes up to the place where paragliders take off. We go on to a narrow uphill dirt road and we reach the ridge line, the place where the paragliders take off. Then, after following the ridgeline, we leave on the right Elias the Prophet (1258m) and going on to the North, mainly via a dirt road, we reach the highest top “Zarkorachi” (1332m).

From Church of Agios Dimitrios – ridgeline Megali Tsouka (848μ.) – descent to Aidonia

From Kato Skafidoti – Plouton top (920μ.) – Tourla top (1082μ.)

At Tourkovouni, very close to Preveza, there is an old trail – chariot road that was constructed during Turkish occupation and served provision needs of Turks that lived in the castle. It starts from the fence of the Fish farming station and goes up to the NW towards the castle.
